Difference Makers’ Kokua Foods rescued 890lbs of fresh produce, dairy, and bread on August 5-6, 2017 from Wegmans Germantown and Wegmans Woodmore. The donations included a wide assortment of breads (olive, rye, Michelle, Italian, six seed, pound cake), eggs, milk (regular, soy, almond), yogurt, hummus, cottage cheese, butter, jello, ice coffee, orange juice, apple juice, apples, strawberries, melons, plums, apricots, limes, lemons, strawberries, brussel sprouts, avocados, lettuce, snow peas, cucumbers, corn, peas, bean sprout, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, and asparagus. The food was shared with Shepherd’s Table in Silver Spring and Prince George’s House in Capitol Heights. Our thanks to our amazing volunteer drivers: Seth Grimes; DM parent Likun Bowden and her daughter Jiaoli; DM parents Cindy and Elliot Zenick and their sons Joseph, Joshua, and Michael; and our newest members Briana Pobiner and her son Toby! Thank you all for making a difference!
