Global Youth Service Week/Day (GYSW/D) at Takoma Park Middle School

Difference Makers will be leading Global Youth Service Week (GYSW) during the week of April 16. During GYSW, we will be encouraging Random Acts of Kindness and hosting Student and Staff Appreciation days. The week will culminate with Global Youth Service Day, on Saturday, April 22. GYSD is the largest youth service day in the world, and we are hoping to involve over 500 youth. Come out to TPMS from 10AM to 4PM to participate in service projects (including a canned food drive for DM’s new food distribution program Kokua Foods, pinata making for ExtraOrdinary Birthdays, and card making for veterans), learn about other nonprofits, and enjoy music, demonstrations, food, and much more.

Please help us make a difference by donating any of the following to our collection boxes in front of the main office. These items will be used in a variety of onsite community service projects that day.

Used bikes/scooters

Used clothing in good condition

Toiletries (soap, shampoo, razors, deodorant) and athletic socks

Canned goods, spaghetti sauce, and spaghetti noodles.  Baby items, including diapers, wipes, bottles, blankets and clothing

New or lightly used sports equipment

Thank you for making a difference in someone’s life.
